Our former pastor, now Bishop of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, visited us May 15-16, presiding at the services and joining us for a celebratory dinner.

Blessing of Graves and Sharing Resurrection Joy

Parishioners of SS. Peter & Paul gathered to bless graves at the old city cemetery, East Cemetery, where many from the parish were buried before the church cemetery was founded. Joe Uliase, jr., researched the names of the departed and decorated the graves. Afterward, we visited our beloved Zinaida (Edith) Nichols and old friends Viola and Eleanor Boski at the Meriden Baptist Home. There we sang our favorite hymns of Pascha and prayed for the Lord to grant them many blessed years.

Godspeed, Ilaria!

Ilaria Wolfe, a Wesleyan student who has been attending SS. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, Meriden, CT, recently graduated. We celebrated with her and said our goodbyes as she leaves us and prepares for her upcoming wedding.

Parish Cub Scouts Receive St. George Orthodox Scouting Award

On Meatfare Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, we also celebrated Orthodox Scouting Day, marking the 100th anniverary of Scouting and the 50th anniversary of the Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting. Two cub scouts, Matthew Dennis and Ephraim Mosher, received medals for earning the St. George Orthodox Scouting Award. We have a short slide show of Fr. Joshua pinning on the medals and concluding with our scouts standing with Fr. Joshua and visiting Deacon Steven Hosking of St. Alexis of Wilkes-Barre Orthodox Church, Clinton, CT.

Celebrating St. Nicholas Day

On St. Nicholas Day, Dec. 6, 2009, the parish had a special celebration. In addition to the Sunday Divine Liturgy, Fr. Joshua read the story of St. Nicholas to the children, and they decorated the parish Christmas tree. We have a slide show of the event.
